Two men charged into the supermarket, fired shots into the air, which tends to whip up instant respect, or at the very least, grab people’s attention. In fact, upon hearing the shots, quite a few shoppers rushed down to the parking under the supermarket.

The raiders managed to empty the tills and then flee the scene in an Opel Vectra, which the Catalan autonomic police, Los Mossos d’Esquadra, are trying to locate. The information that they have indicates that it belongs to somebody who lives in Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The Policía Local patrol car sped to the scene, recording a video where you can hear one of them say, “I don’t want to die,” which was uploaded onto the Internet. The video author has since been suspended from duty.

The Town Hall of Esparreguera issued a statement saying that they had opened disciplinary proceedings against a female officer for a “conduct that denotes little professionality,” as well as, “behaviour contrary to the good name and standing of the police force.”
