Starting Wednesday, the wearing of masks within Andalucía will be obligatory in public spaces both interior and exterior. Failure to wear one will result in a fine.
The Andalusia Prime Minister, Juanma Moreno, made the announcement after a reunion of with the regional committee in charge of pandemic response.
“From now on, we must get used to wearing a mask, despite the heat and other difficulties,” he said, adding that this measure is irrespective of being able to keep the recommended safety distance in public. The exception will be family units living under the same roof.
Although Sr. Moreno said that fines would be applied, he admitted that they had still not decided on how much it will be, but that it would be determined in the next meeting of the Board of Ministers.
The President said that experts agree that when two people meet, both wearing masks, the possibility of infecting each other is reduced to only 1% probability.
