A Guardia Civil, helicopter was called out to rescue seven young people from the Junta de Los Ríos because they became worried that they could not get out.

One of the group trapped in this popular canyon within the municipality of Otívar phoned 112, which activated the Guardia Civil mountain-rescue team, as well as the Guardia helicopter, based at the Armilla air base.

Editorial comment: we don’t know the age of “los jovenes” involved; whether they were a group 12-year olds, for example, or whether they were in the late teens and early 20s. The former is acceptable whilst the latter is not. Just the cost of the helicopter is about 1,000 euros an hour, without counting the waste of everybody’s valuable, and at times crucial, time.
