Salobreña Medical Centre

SAL Medical CentreThe Mayor of Salobreña, when interviewed by Radio Salobreña recently, commented that the new medical centre was not high on the Junta’s list.

Mayor María Eugenia Rufino considered that the change of political leadership at the Junta had upset how things were developing and that the new administration “did not seem very convinced” about carrying the project out, which would see the new Medical Centre next to the TH1.

When Minister for Health at the Junta, Jesús Aguirre, visited Hospital Santa Ana, she was not invited to the reunion.

The Junta is now more interested in extending the existing building; something that the Mayor considers a tremendous error because it condemns its further growth in the near future. She also pointed out under the previous administration everybody was of accord about the construction of a new medical centre.

Furthermore, the earmarked plot for the new centre is municipal property whereas the land needed to extend the existing building is not, which would have to be purchased by the Town Hall – more expense for the municipal coffers.
