Beaches Closed for San Juan

ALM June 2020 Playa San CristobalThe Mayor of Almuñécar, Trinidad Herrera, has announced that the town’s beaches will be closed on Tuesday (23rd) evening from 19.00h.

The beaches will be reopened to beachgoers the next morning from 09.00h

This is to prevent people arriving to set up tents, etc for the Night of San Juan, which has been cancelled all along the Costa Tropical – all over Spain, in fact.

Outside this temporary closure, beachgoers must maintain a safety distance unless it involves people living in the same household – this holds for both on the beach as well as in the water.

Masks will be obligatory where a safety distance cannot be maintained (on the beach) so there will no doubt be few ‘burka bikinis’ about.

Finally, the 24th, San Juan, has been declared a local holiday in Almuñécar and La Herradura, so don’t count on banks and administrative offices being open.
