The body of a 52-year-old man was found in an advanced state of decomposition in his house in Vélez de Benaudalla.

The discovery was made yesterday afternoon after his sister, who had not heard from him in a while, went to his abode to make sure he was alright. She found the front door closed but could smell a strong smell of decay coming from within.

The Guardia Civil broke in the front door and found the body of the man lying in his bed. There were no signs of violence indicating that it was a natural death.

The deceased, who had probably died at least ten days previously, was taken to the Instituto Anatómico Forense for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
