Answering Doubts

QUE Drive in the CampoThese are some of the questions being asked with their corresponding answers from the Almuñécar Policía Local. Note: some might appear contradictory… that is because they are.

Q: Can I go for a ride or drive in the mountains?
A: Yes, in Phase One, you can drive around the province

Q: Can I go hiking in the mountains around my town?
A: No, walking is only allowed up to one kilometre from home and jogging is restricted to your municipality.

Q: Can I go to the beach?
A: Yes, but only for a walk; not for swimming.

Q: What is the timetable for walking and jogging?
A: Until the Junta says otherwise, they are the same as in Phase Zero.

Q: Can I get together with my friends in a square and spend the afternoon there?
A: No, the outing times for walks and jogging don’t permit you to remain in one place.

Q: Can I practice sports outside my municipality?
A: No, the restrictions on where you practice sports have not changed.

Q: Can both parents go out with the kids when its their turn?
A: No, the restrictions have not changed in that respect.

Q: Are the ITV stations open?
A: Yes, you can now take your vehicle for checking, always with a prior appointment.

So, there you have it! You can jump in the car with your kids and spouse but you can’t go out walking together. You can, however, sit with them on a bar terrace altogether.

You can drive out into the mountains but you can’t park up and go for a walk whilst you’re there.

What time you go for your walk or take your kids out for fresh air is restricted, but you can go to a bar or restaurant any time you want, as long as they are open.

If in doubt, visit the Almuñécar Policía Local facebook page for more info, but beware those of you who live in Salobreña or Motril… the police there might have a different interpretation of the BOE.

Tom: When you say bike, do you mean a pushbike (cycle) or a motorbike? If you’re on a bicycle, dressed like somebody who rides a bike for sport; i.e., the full kit, then you are restricted to the sports timeframe and distance limitations. If you’re on a bike, and look like a vicar visiting his parish, then it is your mode of transport. Therein lies the difference: an apparatus for sports or a vehicle. Obviously, if it is a motorbike, then the world’s your oyster… but within the provincial boundaries, that is. 😉

Michael: No. There are no restrictions on the time that you go with your family to a bar or restaurant other than that they are open for trade.

You can do this in your town or any other town in the province. Yes, you can get out of your car to achieve this.

The restrictions are on activities that have given time frames. If you are not participating in one of those activities, then you are are not restricted to the said limitations.

So, people from out of town can drive to Almuñecar but can’t get out of their car.

We can only walk to a bar or restaurant, as adults, between 0600 and 1000 when they are closed, or 2000 and 2300 so long as they are within 1km of home.

This really needs to be revisited

However the abnormally occurs because you are breaking the law on the way to and from the bar. Otherwise, people can move as they please within a 1km radius and simy say that they are on the way to a bar if thry are stopped.
