Tit for Tat

SPN French BorderFrance has decided to impose a 14-day quarantine on anybody entering the country from Spain. Cross-border workers such as long-distance lorry drivers will be exempt.

This measure will come into force and remain in place whilst the Spanish one exists; i.e., from the 15th of May until the end of the State of Alarm, which although concludes on the 24th of this month, will most likely be extended.

The French PM’s office says that this move was mainly a political decision but that it was also decided upon for reasons of efficiency: “We cannot imagine that crossing a border is easier in one direction than the other.”

Editorial comment: Perhaps they should visit the Gibraltar/Spanish border, in that case.

This news concerns the French land border with Spain. Logically, if the border is closed, then it is closed to transit traffic unless it is goods vehicles.

Spain’s borders have essentially been closed down for weeks, permitting only commericial traffice (lorries, etc). Logically

You will have to read the French press concerning the Chunnel, I am afraid.
