The Moroccan authorities have announced that they will suspend all travel between Spain and Morocco, including both sea links and flights.
The reason, quite obviously, is a preventative step and reaction to Spain’s growing number of people infected by the Coronavirus.
This, of course, will affect ferry traffic out of and into Motril Port, as it has ferry traffic with the North African ports of Nador, Alhucemas and Tangiers. However, this restriction is only on passenger traffic and does not affect freight traffic.
Lastly, the Central Government has also forbidden the arrival of cruise ships to Spanish ports. However, as this measure is for 14 days it won’t affect Motril Port as there are no cruises ships scheduled to arrive before that date, anyway.
