Fake Traffic Fine Emails

SPN Traffic FinesQuite a few drivers are reporting having received a fake, traffic-fine notification via email, the Traffic Department warns.

The email bears the victim’s name and type of car, informing the recipient that the amount to be paid is just over 1,500 euros.

However, the problem begins when you click on a link supposedly showing the fine in full, which is when you fall into the trap and invite a computer virus onto your computer.

The DGT (Traffic Department) points out that they never send out fine notifications in this manner, unless you have signed up on the Dirección Electrónica Vial in order to receive them via your email address.

In other words, if you haven’t requested to be notified of traffic fines on the DGT webpage, your traffic fines will be sent to you by registered post.
