A woman threw herself from her flat balcony in an attempt to escape her husband after he allegedly came at her with a knife.

The incident took place around 14.30h yesterday in Salobreña on Calle Dolores Ibárruri.

According to the Municipal Police, the man had been reported before for violence against women in previous relationships.

The woman, who jumped from a first-floor window, assured the police that she had long suffered violent episodes from this man.

She was taken by ambulance to Hospital Santa Ana to have her injuries treated whilst the man was taken into custody in Salobreña.
