Yes, that’s right; somebody is making beer out of mangoes. It was only a matter of time; first we had mango chutney, now we’ve got mango beer. Evolution!
Master brewers, Juan Navarro and Jorge Varela from the Cruzcampo Brewery in Málaga decided to use mangoes from the Axarquía area for their brainwave concoction, bringing out and limited production run.
The brewery there wants promote local seasonal produce, hence choosing the mango, which is an expanding crop production in the province.
But Cruzcampo in Málaga also produces artisan brews not tied to the seasons such as the Malagueta, Session, IPA, Trigo and Strong Ale. The Malagueta is an Indian Pale Ale, for example whilst Cruzcampo Trigo is an ale that leaves tones of fruit & spices lingering on your taste buds. Finally, Cruzcampo Strong Ale, needs no explanation other than ‘take a taxi afterwards.’
