The Guardia Civil in Almuñécar have arrested another 13 people in connection with the recent drugs bust involving an international drugs ring.
These arrests are the second phase of a police operation, with first phase taking place on the 15th amounting to 19 arrests, 14 of whom were transferred to the provincial prison in Albolote’ pending trial.
Five of those just arrested are from La Herradura and all of those arrested are aged between 20 and 50. One of them is the proprietor of a local restaurant.
According to the police, the drugs ring imported large amounts of hashish from Morocco to Almuñécar, from whence it was distributed to other provinces and even abroad.
Officers from the Aduanas de la Agencia Tributaria are also investigating the personal estates of those arrested in order to detect traces of money laundering.
