The ferry that covers the Motril-Melilla route, FRS Golden Bridge ran aground in this North-African port.

She was leaving the said port when she came too close to the harbour-defence wall. In the end they had to request the assistance of a Moroccan tug from the nearby port of Nador to help manoeuvre her out of port.

It took two hours to complete the operation so that the ferry didn’t leave until aroud 17.45h, meaning that it arrived very late at Motril Port to begin its next run.
