The third shooting in a fortnight in Marbella has led to another murder, this time a French citizen and local resident.
The incident took place near the Camping de Cabopino at around 20.00h on Monday evening. In that area there are several restaurants and a gasolinera. The 60-year-old Frenchman was approaching on foot his parked car at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses say that as he was opening the door, two men got out of their blue Renault Megane and came up to the man and shot him. The sound of the shots caused quite a panic in the immediate area.
Immediately after the attack, the two men sped off in their car, which appears to have been rental car . They smashed through the toll gate of the motorway access near Calahonda and disappeared in the Málaga direction.
The police began to lay a net to trap the assassins but to date the only thing found was the car, which had been abandoned and in flames on the Camino de las Canteras near the TV masts for Mijas.
At the scene of the killing the forensic police combed the area for any evidence and the coroner wrote out a death certificate so that the body could be removed.
