The Almuñécar fire service was called out to rescue the driver from a car that had driven off the road and fell some 20 metres down a barranco.
The accident occurred near Ítrabo on a bridge called Puente Nuevo around 10.00h yesterday morning and involved a blue Seat Ibiza.
The fire personnel had to work to cut the injured driver from the wreckage at the bottom of the barranco and once free he was rushed to Hospital Santa Ana.
Editorial comment: the only bridge over a deep barranco on the entire road between the N-323 and the GR 4050 (Cabra) is just below Ítrabo on a sharp bend. There is no information on how the accident occurred.
