The opposition party at Motril Town Hall want a new bylaw to regulate the use of electric scooters and skateboards.
Socialist Councillor, Alicia Crespo, points out that many towns now have this growing problems where these forms of transport are used recklessly on many occasions without any bylaw to control where and how they are used within the urban area of the municipality.
“Lately, you can often see these electric vehicles, such as skateboards and scooters that are running wild, having no respect for norms,” she said.
She concluded that these vehicles weave in and out of pedestrians on the pavements and along one-way street in the wrong direction, generally making a nuisance of themselves.
The fact is that this ‘mobility fashion’ is moving a lot faster than the existing rules concerning road and pedestrian area usage, leaving these devices to operate within a legal limbo.
For this reason, the PSOE is going to forward a motion in tomorrow’s Plenary Meeting of the Motril Town Council.
