Owing to a plague of mice, Salobreña has had to close one of its parks to the public whilst the problem is dealt with.
The park in question is the Parque Fuente I, which will see a two-phase anti-rodent treatment. First they will build a low wall around the perimetre and then they will fumigate the interior of the park.
The Mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, explained that owing to the park’s proximity to the vega, the cleaning out of the ramblas & irrigation channels, and even the nearby earth movement on the Plan Parcial Playa, rodents have been displaced and have taken up ‘residence’ in the said park.
Editorial comment: you never realise what a problem rats and mice are until you find yourself with your very own rat/mice problem – nothing is safe from them.
