According to the Mayor of Almuñécar, the Junta de Andalucía has set aside nearly half a million euros to do up part of the Cabra Montés road.
They’re not overhauling the whole road between Almuñécar and the Suspiro del Moro junction, obviously, but just the part within the municipality of Almuñécar that goes through Torrecuevas.
“Torrecuevas and Las Peñuelas are where most of the fruit warehouses are and the custard apple, mango and advocado harvest are about to begin,” she said.
Because we’re at the beginning of the picking season, they’ll have to wait until after the harvests (Hass avocados are picked in February and March), the work won’t start until the spring.
Editorial comment: most of the press release bangs on about how great the Junta is under her party and how bad it was under the socialists, so we decided to spare you that.
