An explosion in a firework factory in Guadix has resulted in two deaths; one killed by the blast and the other later from his injuries.

José Antonio Contreras (34) died at 01.45h on Saturday the 28th, following the explosion at Pirotecnia López Franco the previous day.

The said accident occurred at 10.55h, affecting a brick building where the two men had been working. A 49-year victim, as said, died in the explosion whilst the second worker was evacuated by helicopter to Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Sevilla, which specialises in burns.

This is the second accident of this kind in Guadix with the first one occurring at Pirotecnia María Angustias on the 12th of November, 2018, resulting in three deaths.
