In the last Plenary Meeting of the Salobreña Town Council a “climatic declaration” put forward by Podemos was unanimously approved.
The idea was presented to Podemos by the ecologist group, Cal y Caña and amazingly, all seven parties, for once, agreed.
The said declaration contains 14 measures which range from reducing, drastically, pollution to promoting environmental awareness.Interesting points include reforesting and returning to nature spaces within the municipality.
Podemos Councillor, María Jesús Castaño, said that society was at a crucial point, listing elements within Climate Change, such as melting Polar Caps, dwindling drinking-water resources, etc.
She concluded that the expense of doing nothing was enormous and that “social mobilisation” was essential.
