The Motril Policía Local rescued a mistreated dog, whose state can only be described as extremely deplorable and heartbreaking.

The discovery was made thanks to a neighbour who had caught a glimpse of the poor creature, tied up and little more than skeletal in appearance.

The police went around and confirmed what the neighbour had reported and took the dog away, not before giving its owner notification that he has been charged with Animal Mistreatment, as it is referred to in Spain.

The policemen, visibly moved, rushed the dog to the animal-shelter vet for emergency treatment. We have contacted the municipal animal home to enquire as to its health and whether it has been adopted and are presently waiting on a response.
