Residents along Playa Granada are far from being happy bunnies over the litter left by beach binges (botellones).
The Chairman for the neighbourhood association for that area, Rafael García Luján, says that weekends are the worst: “you wake up Sunday morning and go for a walk with your grandchild and you come across all this rubbish, broken bottles and even excrement,” and he wasn’t referring to canine excrement.
He also considers that the fines that were levied on beach revellers last year on Playa de Poniente have only served to move the ‘venue’ to Playa Granada. Furthermore, many of the participants are minors; i.e., below drinking age.
