Selling A Moribund Pup

MOT Border Collie PupThe Guardia Civil in Motril are investigating a local man suspected of animal cruelty and document forgery.

The 36-year-old man allegedly tried to sell a dying puppy on Internet, which finally died two days later because he had failed to take it to a vet when it needed it.

Furthermore, he reportedly forged the animal’s health documents  by including vaccination information that the animal had never received.

The police investigations began on the 25th of June when a person made a complaint before Seprona (the environmental police) to say that he had legally purchased a 2-month-old, Border Collie via a well known webpage, but which had died within two days.

Even though the new owner had taken it immediately to a vet, there was nothing that could be done to save the animal.

The Internet advert had stated:” A precious Border Collie with all its jabs and anti-parasite treatment in order. Price 150 euros.”

They had agreed to meet in order to complete the transaction. However, by the time that the seller had arrived in Granada, the dog was vomiting and had diahorrea.

The purchaser was told by the suspect that it was only a reaction to a long trip in a car, but the same conditions continued during the next 48 hours until it expired.

The vet gave a diagnosis of a parvovirus intestinal infection and chronic dehydration.
