Nacla Hill Fire

MOT Nacla Fire Helicopter July 2019The Infoca (Forest Fire Service) and the Motril fire service were called out to tackle a hill fire in the Nacla area of the municipality.

The emergency services were called out around 12.45h on Saturday and the fire services took two hours to bring it under control.

Three Motril fire service vehicles were used, backed up by seven fire fighters from Infoca and two aircraft: a personnel transport helicopter with an underslung water bucket and a fixed-wing, water bomber.

Although the fire was put out a little after 14.00h, personnel were left on site to dampen the ashes down, taking up to 19.00h until they were satisfied that it would not burst into flames again.

In the meantime the Guardia Civil closed the Motril-Gorgoracha road to traffic between the tunnel and Urb. de La Nacla.

It is not known yet how much land was affected.
