Motril Beach Parking Solution

MOT Temporary Summer Parking Playa de PonienteMotril Town Hall has come up with temporary parking space for 1,500 vehicles on Playa de Poniente, following the parking crisis.

There are three empty building plots that have been included in the scheme, as well as parking along Calle Zinnia.

This temporary parking should take the heat off the irritation caused by Costas’ fining campaign against people parking on the edge of the beach – there was nowhere else to park.

The Town Hall at first tried to reason with the provincial office of Demarcación de Costas but they would not budge, so the Councillor for Beaches, José Lemos, approached the owners of vacant building plots in order to turn them over, on a temporary basis, to public parking.

The three parking lots (as seen in the accompanying image) are the plot next to Restaurante Katena, the one in front of Chiringuito El Espeto, and the one behind La Estrella. As for Calle Zinnia, parking will be permitted along both sides.

Some 800 of them will be available for this coming weekend, whilst the rest should be ‘online’ for the following week.
