SAL Hotel BoutiqueThe paperwork for the Hotel Boutique in Salobreña started back in 2003 but the economic crisis got in the way… until now.

This 8,000 sq/m project belonging to the development group, Triade, is situated on Las Laderas, next to Pargo Villas and will start off life as a 4-star establishment with plans to ascend to a 5-star category.

The hotel will have 62 rooms, 25 of which will be suites. There will also be a terrace, private pool, two restaurants; one for adults and another for families; i.e. screaming brats and unfortunate parents. There will also be a 600-sq/m spa.

As it will be sitting on a steep hillside, it will be a stepped construction, meaning that it won’t be visible from the N-340 above. There will be parking in the basement with space for 19 cars.

The project has a 12m-euro price tag.

Right, what’s standing in the way is the Board of Tourism for the Junta, whose benevolence will be required and who will award the appropriate star category. They will also need an environmental-impact study, which the Town Hall will have to handle, as well as the building licence itself.

The Mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, said that the project was up and running at least a couple of weeks ago but no announcement had been made so that nobody could accuse her of electioneering.
