There has been yet another fire, this time in Nerja on Los Acantillados next to Playa Burriana, which started around 16.00h on Monday. This is the second fire within the municipality in Nerja in the space of a dozen days.

Because of the near vertical terrain the fire fighters called upon the help of kayak users on the beach. A craft belonging to Educare Aventura together with several kayaks ferried large water containers of water to throw on the flames above the rocks.

The fire had started nearly 80 metres up and once again it looks like the careless burning of branch cuttings was behind the fire. Sparks and burning embers has been blown by the wind unto the shrubs and wild cane growing further down the cliffs.

The fire was intense but short lived, and after diverting water from an irrigation channel to cascade onto the fire below, the efforts of volunteers and fire personnel had the fire out by 17.00h.
