The Marina del Este was awarded the coveted Bandera Azul, which is the only such award west of Torrenueva along the Costa Tropical. It is worth noting that many coastal towns on the coast have not put their beaches forward because of the cost of maintaining such standards
In fact, the company that runs the Marina del Este, Grupo Marinas del Mediterráneo, also managed to obtain the Bandera Azul category for the other two marinas that it operates: Puerto Deportivo Estepona and La Duquesa (Manilva).
However, the Marina del Este has an extra reason to be proud as it has flown this prized flag for the last 25 years.
The Bandera Azul, which has been around for 30 years, is awarded by the Fundación Europea para la Educación Ambiental (FEE) and the Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor (ADEAC).
The award is given only after exhaustive analysis carried out by ADEAC inspectors, based on the marina’s safety measures, environmental quality and, of course, the quality of the water. Also taken into consideration are the services offered to users.
