The Policía Nacional in Motril are investigating the discovery of the body of a 50-year-old man in an advanced state of decomposition.
The body was found on Tuesday in a cortijo in the south of the municipality, after a farm labourer complained about a stench coming from the nearby building.
The Motril fire service was called in to remove the body of the man, who appears to have died between five and six days prior to the corpse being found.
Even with the state of decomposition, there did not appear to be any signs of violence. However, this can only be ruled out with an autopsy.
As the deceased appears to have nothing to do with the property, the police consider that the body might be that of a homeless person in his 50s.
