A policeman in Motril whose task it was to look after the immigrant centre in the port is being investigated for taking photos of the installations.
Representatives from the unified police union (SUP) protested at the beginning of last month in support of the officer, belonging to the Policía Nacional, whose photos were published in the Ideal regional newspaper, on the 13th of November 2017.
The Police Headquarters have yet to explain what sort of retribution he could be facing once the internal investigations have concluded, but it could include suspension of employment and salary.
The police union considers it a “witch hunt” designed to dissuade police offers from denouncing their work conditions in general and not only those experienced working in improvised temporary internment camps.
