The roadworks along the Herradura beach road are plodding along but it is hoped that they are finally finished before Easter.
Easter this year is in April but before then we have a few bank holidays such as El Día de Andalucía (28th February) and the village fiestas, San José (19th March).
The Chairman of the Mancomunidad, Sergio García Alabarce, said that the work laying a rain-drainage system, etc is 80% complete, costing some 2-million euros.
At present the workmen are working down the western end of the Paseo Andrés Segovia, between the children’s park and Chambao de Vicente at the very end of the beach.
Workmen will be finishing off the beach part of the project, which has been going on for over a year, by giving a new layer of tarmac from Chambao Joaquín to the new roundabout and from Chambao de Vicente up to the Rio Jate bridge before San Jose on the 19th of March.
After that there remains the work that is going on in the old town, which should be concluded by Semana Santa, as stated above.
