The Parque Natural de Sierra Nevada has activated its winter, informative campaign so that members of the public can enjoy the sierras in safety.
Within this protected, park area is the Mulhacén Peak, as well as 20 other minor peaks, some around 3,000 metres in height, which are open to all sorts of winter sports and leisure activities, such as cross-country skiing, mountain climbing for example, etc.
With the object of preventing accidents, each week between November and July the park authorities will publish safety pamphlets, giving reports on the state of the access points and the mountain refuges, as well as danger points (rockfalls, avalanches and weather reports, etc), and general, safety precautions.
This information is widely distributed amongst mountaineering clubs, shops that sell equipment for such activities, as well as on the blog, Nevasport and the Facebook account for the Parque Nacional y Natural de Sierra Nevada.
