A Guardia Civil, customs launch was called in to rescue three people in kayaks some two nautical miles out to sea.
The incident occurred around 14.45h on Friday to the north of the Canary Islands (Fuerteventura) involving a monitor and two foreigners.
Salvamento Marítimo (Coast Guards or Maritime-Rescue Service) contacted the maritime branch of the Guardia Civil Customs Service, requesting that they went to the aid of the three people, as it would take them over an hour to reach them if they went themselves.
The Customs launch, Patrullera Orotava 5, soon found them nearly two nautical miles north of the Corralejo, Fuerteventura (Lanzarote), all in good health but somewhat disorientated by the sea state, which was a bit choppy.
They were taken back to the Corralejo Docks where they were reunited with the rest of the kayak expedition, as they did not need to be taken to medical facilities first.
