In a few months Salobreña will be spending 200,000 euros on one of its cultural assets: the Auditorium.
The Auditorio José Martín Recuerda will celebrate its 20th anniversary in a couple of months and the passage of a score years has left a trail of deterioration on the structure and furnishings, which is where this money will be going.
The seating, the stage, the bathrooms, the changing rooms, all need urgent attention.
At the moment the project has been set before competing companies specialised in these kinds of buildings. The company that wins the contract will have just one month the complete the work from beginning to end.
The Mayor, Mª Eugenia Rufino, points out that that the auditorium is not just any old municipal building but the epicentre of the town’s cultural character, which is in use all year round with many cultural activities. The Cinemar Noire Festival is just one example.
It’s also a place for school activities, prize giving and administrative acts, she concluded.
