The fire service, accompanied by the municipal police, attending to flooding in Barrio La Paloma and Plaza Blas Infante on either side of the main road near the petrol station, as well as on the Avenida Costa del Sol.
But that was just the beginning, because right over on the Punta de Velilla and in the centre of town near Rio Verde; Calle Hurtado de Mendoza and Calle Príncipe de Asturias, also required their attention.
To make things worse the main-road traffic lights next to the gasolinera packed up and a bits fell off a facade along the Calle Mariana Pineda.
And of course, despite all the work having been carried out on the rain drainage around town, rain drains around down could not cope with the heavy rain and started gushing water instead of swallowing it. Thankfully, now that the rain drainage runs on a different system to the sewage pipes, the water was not laced with fecal goodies.
