A hardened criminal attacked several policeman in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) with a katana. Although he was shot, he was only injured.
The encounter took place on the 4th floor of a block of flats in a marginal area of the town. One of the police officers, finding himself trapped in a tight corner, shot him in the face.
The aggressor had an arrest warrant out on him for injuring several police officers in a previous incident with a knife.
The man, who is considered one of the most violent in the town, was taken to hospital to be treated for the facial wound.
The Policía Nacional patrol had recognised the man and told him to halt, but he ran into the block entrance. According to the police, it was when they had reached the said floor that he sprung out, blandishing the katana, offering early retirement.
Editorial comment: Fortunately for the aggressor, this took place in Spain and not in the United States… On the other hand, shooting somebody in the face doesn’t sound like a shot to wound….
