The body of a 17-year-old lad was recovered by the Guardia Civil, mountain-rescue team on the Sierra Nevada within the municipality of Güéjar-Sierra.
The Sereim team located the body yesterday morning in the river near the Majada del Palo, after recommencing a search operation from the previous evening at first light with the help of a helicopter. They were accompanied by fire personnel from Granada and Infoca.
The victim had been on a hiking excursion together with three friends in an area known as the Vereda de la Estrella but became separated from the rest of the group after stopping to rest.
The cause of the youth’s death has not been made public, nor has his identity, as is the norm at this early stage.
