The Guardia Civil (SEPRONA) arrested a Motril man for alleged cruelty to animals owing to the lamentable state of his two dogs.
The 57-year-old man, according to the police, had neglected the animals, leaving them “extremely thin and covered in parasites,” so they called in a veterinary surgeon.
The vet examined the dogs and found that one of them was severely anaemic and was suffering from leishmaniasis. The vet had no other option but to put it down.
The other dog was left with its owner, pending a decision by the authorities.
