A municipal policeman for the city of Granada is awaiting trial for the alleged accidental shooting of a woman in Huétor Vega.
The incident took place at 18.30h on the 21st of March in a dwelling in the said town. The victim, a 42-year-old woman, stated that it had been an accident before she lost conscienous.
The 52-year-old policeman instists that his service weapon went off by mistake whilst he was cleaning it, hitting the victim in the stomach.
Initially, a court order was issued to prevent him from approaching the victim, but it was annulled in April after the prosecution changed its accusation to lesiones por imprudencia (recklessly causing bodily injury).
In the meantime he is on sick leave for mental issues and has had his service and personal firearms confiscated by the Guardia Civil.
