A cloud burst over Padul yesterday produced 40 litres per sq/m and in just under one hour, resulting in extensive flooding.
The Mayor, Manuel Alarcón, said that the Rambla de los Alcarceles had disappeared underwater around midday, flooding areas of the town.
He pointed out that the form of the town is like a funnel, so when it rains all the gullies channel into the centre of town.
By five in the afternoon the Rambla de los Alcarceles and the Camino de los Molinos were still both closed to traffic because of the amount of water and mud.
Lastly, he pointed out that although the flooding had badly affected crops, nobody had been hurt, nor had it been necessary to evacuate anybody..
