The police arrested a man suspected of having broken into the Almuñécar municipal market during the early hours of the 22nd of February.
The 45-year-old man allegedly forced open the metal shutters to two stalls and smashed a refrigerated display cabinet in a third. His booty was a box of olive oil and eight jamón serranos.
It was the Guardia Civil who took on the investigation and their inspection of the crime scene enabled them to identify the suspect.
But the Guardia Civil have been busy because they also arrested a young couple of 27 and 22 for alleged drug peddling. This second arrest occurred on the 25th of last month.
The police had stopped the couple at a routine road check and discovered the marihuana and kif, thanks to their sniffer dog. The animal discovered a small amount on the girl and the rest in their luggage.
Editorial note: Kif is a mixture of tobacco and chopped pieces of marijuana, very common in Morocco (Kif in the Rif).
