There was a house fire on Calle Santa Isabel in Almuñécar yesterday that resulted in two elderly people suffering from smoke inhalation.

First indications are that the fire was caused by the tablecloth catching light on one of those traditional Spanish brazier tables.

The Policía Local, Guardia Civil and fire service turned out, as well as a unit from Almuñécar Protección Civil; a Land Rover fitted out as an ambulance.

There is a little bit of controversy regarding the absence of a normal ambulance, even though the 112 Emergency Service claimed that it was one of theirs that responded to the call out.
