On the 29th of August, 2013 a man of 80 was brought into the emergency ward of the Hosptial Virgen de las Nieves in Granada with acute pneumonia. He was accompanied by a niece.
However the niece was later accused of stealing 120,000 euros from him by emptying his investment plan at his bank.
According to the prosecutor, she knew full well that his intention was to share this money amongst his family, so, using her permission to handle his bank account, she allegedly withdrew the money and kept it.
She is accused of taking advantage of his failing health to cover up her actions.
The man died on the 2nd of February, 2014 at the Hospital San Rafael, which is where terminal cases are sent from Hospital Virgen de las Nieves. San Rafael provides a very caring service for these patients.
