Telefónica, Vodafone and Orange began extending 4G coverage on the 800MHz bandwidth in Almuñécar this December, giving mobile-phone users high-speed connections.

All this has been possible because frequencies previously used for digital TV channels (790 & 862 MHz – UHF channels 61 to 29)) were freed up for mobile-phone coverage, starting in April 2015.

Some users probably found that 4G kept dropping in and out and therefore they have not got constant 4G coverage – it’s certainly the case up here in Otívar.

“The advance mobile-phone network introduces two fundamental improvements; firstly it solves problems produced by difficult terrain (coverage shadows) and secondly,  4G has far greater penetration inside buildings,” explained the Spokesman for Llega800, Daniel Espín.

The 4G coverage also permits video calls with much better quality, which is ideal for businesses, for example.
