Car Theft Deaths

A car chase with a teenager at the wheel of a stolen car led to an accident resulting in three deaths, two from the stolen car and the other who was the driver of a van on his way to work.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the 23rd of December in the city centre of Murcia on the Avenida Miguel Induráin.

Four teenagers between the ages of 14 and 19 were joyriding in the stolen car just after four in the morning when they collided with a bread van, instantly killing the 48-year-old driver on his way to work.

Moments before, they had passed a police patrol car and sped off. This high-speed evasive action alerted the police who set off in pursuit.

The emergency services were soon at the scene of the accident and the city’s fire service set about cutting two of the injured teenagers out of the wrecked car – there was nothing that could be done for the other two occupants of the car nor the driver of the van.
