There’s a video on Twitter, which we have reproduced here, that has caused quite a stir on social media: a policeman slaps a woman to the ground.
Moments before the blows she said that she was going to hit him, but in immediate response the Policía Nacional knocks her to the ground with what appears to be an open-handed blow.
The incident took place in Valencia recently, probably in the Barrio Barona.
As one female twitter user indignantly comments, “if that is what he does in front of a fellow policeman to an unarmed woman, a head and shoulders shorter than him, imagine what he’s like with his wife behind closed doors.”
This incident, if taken with what happened in Barcelona on the day of the failed referendum, where footage of the riot police laying into people who were trying to vote, which went around the world, it does not paint a very pretty picture of the nation’s police forces.
