Whilst other towns are putting on living nativity scenes, Órgiva has come up with one entirely made out of Playmobile pieces – how original is that?
Juan Jesus Maldonado, an agricultural engineer, knocked the whole thing up using a meagre 30,000 pieces (1,000 of which are figures) on a 20 sq/m layout.
Apart from Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus and all the animals in the manger, there is also a pyramid, thanks to the era has been faithfully recreated. There are also some anachronistic interlopers like Wally, a troupe of flamenco performers, Don Quijote & Pancho, and a couple of Guardia Civil policemen, for good measure.
The Mayor, María Ángeles Blanco, was certainly impressed and convinced that it would be a crowd-puller this Christmas time.
So, if you want to have a look, then you can, between 11.00h and 14.00h and then 18.00h to 20.00h up to the 7th of January.
