They’re blasting the shopping streets of Salobreña with high-pressure hoses in order to clean them up – they hope to have them looking as good as new once it’s finished.
The process is going to take us up to Chrismas and will be conducted in two stages: firstly, eliminate all the stains, especially chewing gum, and secondly, give the pavement a protective layer that is designed to ‘repel dirt.’
Work began first on Calle Antonio Machado and according to Councillor, Gabriel Alonso, 1,500 metres of pavement will be treated this way between the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and Calle Federíco García Lorca, via Calle Antonio Machado and Calle La Pontanilla.
The idea, of course, is to get the place looking shipshape in time for Christmas so that holiday crowds can marvel at the shiny Salobreña streets, sort of thing.
