Miguel Turns 104

SAL Oldest ManThere’s a man in Salobreña who has seen a lot more than most people – Miguel Fajardo has just turned 104.

Being the oldest person in Salobreña, his birthday was a special event so his family and friends at the Municipal Market prepared a small birthday party-cum-homage for him there.

He was in the know, of course – let’s face it, at that age the last thing that you want is a ‘surpise’ birthday party.

The reason that the market was chosen as the venue was that it was one of the traders there, Bartolomé Robles, who was behind the event.

Miguel blew out the candles – it was just one big one in the shape of ‘104’ – saying that he was very proud of his family and friends and thanked them all for remembering that the 22nd of November was his birthday.

The birthday boy, as you can imagine, has around 20 great grandchildren and says that his offspring all rally around when he’s feeling poorly.
